Best Games Like Skyrim That You Can Play As Alternatives

Now that you have finished Skyrim, you might be looking for an alternative game that is similar to that great RPG, but with less grinding, more story, and more action. We’ve found that there are some games that are similar to Skyrim in design, but are a more action-oriented RPG.

You know what? Skyrim is pretty awesome, but when you think about it, there are a lot of games that do a great impression of it. There’s a lot of qualities that made Skyrim so remembered and loved, and there’s a lot that can be learned from the Elder Scroll series. If you are interested in learning more about games that have similar qualities (or even if you’re not), I have a list for you that you will find useful.

Traveling around Skyrim is an experience that can be had for free. The game is massive, and you don’t need mods like Fallout 4 to travel from place to place. However, if you are looking for an alternative to the Elder Scrolls series, then you could check out games like Fallout 4, Fallout: New Vegas, and Skyrim.

Skyrim is a highly successful open world RPG that has dominated the charts for years. Thanks to its success, many excellent mods have been made by independent developers.

It set the bar so high for open-world RPGs that even Final Fantasy XV is nowhere near matching it.

However, there are a few games on this list that are on par or slightly better than Skyrim.

Here’s a list of games similar to Skyrim that you can play as an alternative.

1. The Witcher 3

Witcher 3: Wild Hunt is without a doubt one of the best open world RPGs the video game industry has ever seen. Many would even say it’s better than Skyrim.

This game has won many awards and is considered the game of the year in 2015. Witcher 3 is the story of Geralt of Rivia, a monster-hunting wizard, and this time he is on a quest to find his missing daughter, who is on the run from the Wild Hunt (an evil force).

In many ways it is similar to Skyrim, for example Geralt can use spells (like Earth) like Dragonborn can use spells like Fus Ro Dah. It’s also a huge open world where you can go anywhere, do main missions and lots of side missions.

The interesting thing about Witcher 3 is that it’s a bit like Game of Thrones. They don’t even censor nudity, and bloodshed is rife in this game. What makes Witcher 3 a very successful game is probably the combination of an interesting story (including the dialogue) and an open world gameplay that does not disappoint.

2. Fallout 4

Fallout 4 has a post-apocalyptic setting where the world is in ruins after a nuclear war. It differs from Skyrim in that the latter is set in medieval times. Although you don’t use magic spells in the game, you still have some awesome cannons and melee weapons to loot.

In this game you play as a man or woman (also called husband and wife). One of them will die in the beginning, depending on which one you choose. Just like in Skyrim, there is an abundance of quests, especially side quests that seem endless.

The world of Fallout is also very large, with many places to explore. Settlements are one of the great features of this game. There are designated areas where you can build settlements to house yourself and other survivors. It’s similar to building a house or a town in The Sims, except you’re in 3D mode on the 3rd or 1st level. I’m in the middle of something. Monsters or mutants can also attack your colonies, so you need to build defenses, stock up on food, water and other supplies.

The choice of weapons at your disposal does not disappoint either. Thanks to the many modifiers available in the game, your play style can be very varied. Choosing the right benefits can make or break your game. Needless to say, this is not an easy game. Some will say that Fallout 4 isn’t as good as the previous installments, but for those just starting out in the series, it’s still a great game.

Fallout 4 has the same developer as Skyrim (Bethesda).

3. Dark Souls 3

The next game is Dark Souls 3, which is also an RPG and came out just two years ago. Like Skyrim, this game contains all sorts of weapons that you can use against enemies, including swords, bows, and projectiles. You can also use shields to ward off enemies.

In the story, the world is in ruins (as usual) and filled with enemies of all kinds and hostile environments. What people love about this game is the intense combat experience and the sheer number of colossal monsters to fight.

It’s also rated highly by most game reviewers, and also on Steam. While this is a great roleplaying game, it is also one of the hardest in the game. They will probably be killed most of the time.

4. Blood transmissible

Another alternative is Bloodborne, a game that is currently only out on Playstation 4. Like Dark Souls, Bloodborne is a very difficult game.

It is also an action RPG, played from a third-person perspective, just like the other games mentioned above. Most of the story takes place in the world of Yharnam, which is full of challenging enemies, including huge bosses. Along the way, you’ll meet NPCs, collect more items to use, and continue the main story.

You can also change the appearance of your character at the beginning of the game, and one of the important points is the choice of class, i.e. Origin. Each origin has a different property, for example. B. a coward or even a killing machine.

There is also a concept known as the hunter’s dream, a place where you can rest safely (no monsters). Every time you open it, however, monsters reappear in the world, even after your health is restored.

5. Fixing and blade 2: Bannerlord

Mount & Blade 2 is another game similar to Skyrim in that it has a medieval setting. The game is set 200 years ago in the world of Calradia and is essentially a war game where you go to war with your soldiers.

You can also build and shoot enemies with heavy equipment. In this game you defend your castle against enemy attacks or take soldiers to conquer another castle.

Mount & Blade also allows you to create weapons that can be used in battle. Each weapon has different attributes, strengths and weaknesses. You can also participate in diplomacy, where you can make deals to win land for your nation. It is also unique in that there are marriage proposals or even cheating pacts involved.

While not exactly like Skyrim, it does have some similar features.

6. Lords Of The Fallen

The next game is Lords of the Fallen. In ancient times, evil ruled the world. But as the people began to fight for their freedom, fear turned into rebellion. The people won the battle, and a thousand years later the legion returned from the dark realm.

As always, it’s up to you to defend yourself against the Fallen Lords. It’s an RPG with a pretty cool melee combat system. They are capable of using weapons or, in some circumstances, magical abilities.

It’s supposed to be a copy of Dark Souls, but the gameplay is a bit slow compared to the first game.

7. Dragon Age Inquisition

Dragon Age Inquisition is also a plot-driven role-playing game, where you can choose your character’s class (e.g. mage or warrior) and race (e.g. dwarf, elf, etc.).

As an Inquisitor, you can also choose your friend on the battlefield. You can choose from about 5 different characters. In the story, you are an inquisitor who must save the world as it descends into chaos. The funny thing is that most of the stories are similar.

This game also has a large world (Thedas) and you can spend a lot of time exploring it. There are even caves with different creatures that you can kill. This game is also considered very personal, meaning your choices affect what happens in the story.

8. Conan Exiles

If you are familiar with the game Conan the Barbarian, then this game might be for you. Conan Exiles is an open world game where you must survive, build a kingdom and defeat your enemies in battle.

Just like in other open-world games, you have to hunt animals, find food, seek shelter from the weather and keep exploring the vast world. You have to start small – build your house, then move on to building cities. There are several weapons to choose from, including swords and bows. What makes the game unique is that you can use giant avatars to take down enemies.

It’s like Skyrim, but you’re Conan and you can build houses and cities. This game can also be played with friends if you wish.

9. Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion

It’s strange when an article about the best games like Skyrim doesn’t mention any other game from the Elder Scrolls series. Oblivion is a game that preceded Skyrim, and they are part of the same series.

You can choose from different races with different skills and even customize your appearance. Just like in Skyrim, you have to constantly upgrade your character by leveling up, gaining new skills, armor, weapons, etc. It has its own story, set six years after the events of the previous game, Morrowind. It’s not a sequel to Morrowind though, and it has its own exciting story.

Oblivion also has a 3rd or 1st person perspective, depending on what you prefer.

10. Mass Effect 3

The Mass Effect series has been pretty successful so far, and even Mass Effect 3 was good, except maybe the ending. This game takes place in space, so in that respect it is different from Skyrim. Nevertheless, it’s a role-playing game worth playing.

As Commander Shepard, you can choose from six different classes with different abilities. Just like in other games, you have to complete tasks, and each task is actually quite intriguing because there is a story behind it.

Probably the best thing about Mass Effect 3 is the dialogue and story. The combat mode is not without its drawbacks either, as you have a choice of weapons and the battles take place in space.

Best games comparable to Skyrim?

We’ve listed 10 games that are alternatives to Skyrim, but they’re certainly not on equal footing.

The best game here is probably Witcher 3 if you’re really looking for an alternative to Skyrim. Another game not mentioned above that is probably worth playing is Horizon Zero Dawn.

It’s also similar to Skyrim, but in a completely different setting, with high-tech robots and primitive humans.{“@context”:”https://schema.org”,”@type”:”FAQPage”,”mainEntity”:[{“@type”:”Question”,”name”:”Is Skyrim Worth Playing 2021?”,”acceptedAnswer”:{“@type”:”Answer”,”text”:” Skyrim is a game that has been around for a long time, and it’s still worth playing.
