All Destiny 2 Exotic Quests Ranked by Reward (+ How to Complete Them)

Destiny 2 is a great game to play. It has a lot of content, great gameplay, a lot of great things to do, and many different ways to do them. However, there are times when some of the quests and missions will just be too much of a grind.

“Destiny 2” is a game that revolves around collecting powerful new items, earning reputation with factions, and battling bad guys in the world. As the game progresses, you will come across new and more challenging faction missions, and each one will explore a different facet of Destiny 2’s mechanics. We’ve ranked each faction mission in the game by how rewarding they are and how simple they are to beat.

Destiny 2 is one of the most popular games of the year. So, it’s no surprise that it has a huge number of exotic quest rewards. However, that also means there’s more than one way to complete each exotic quest, so you’re not necessarily limited to the way that the game wants you to complete them. For example, if you’ve got a jump boost active, you might wish to jump along the way to complete a certain quest, rather than using the ground-based paths.. Exotic Armor and Weapons are among the most thrilling and gratifying items to find in Destiny 2. Many are dropped at random during tough battles, while others are only available during certain events or seasons. Then there are the Exotics who have been enslaved by Exotic Quests.

Exotic Quests are one-of-a-kind task chains that are based on riddles, advancement, and even levels. Some Exotics are worth it, while others are not, depending on the Exotic you receive and the complexity and duration of the task. We’ve got you covered with a comprehensive list of all Exotic Quests in Destiny 2: Beyond Light.

Exotic Quests in Destiny 2 are ranked according to their reward.

Every Exotic Weapon accessible via a current questline is ranked in the following Destiny 2 Exotic Quests list. The aim is to offer a reliable source of information about the most current missions and prizes.

This list, however, does not tell the entire picture; several Exotic missions have been retired from the game and are no longer available. What’s the good news? Their prizes are still up for grabs! Jump to our breakdown of Monument to Lost Lights to learn more about how to buy vaulted Exotics from sunsetted Quests.

Now that we’ve gotten that out of the way, it’s time to get to work.

1. The Other Person’s Voice

Dead Man’s Tale is the reward.

IMG_5527-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Beyond Light + Season Pass are required.
  • S is the reward tier.
  • Scout Rifle is a weapon type.
  • Kinetic is the weapon slot.
  • Primary ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Cranial Spike is an exotic perk.

From the list of all Exotic Quests in Destiny 2, Dead Man’s Tale is one of the greatest prizes. In addition, the mission is a lot of fun! The dramatic, puzzle-based Presage mission, which takes you around the abandoned ship formerly commanded by the ousted Emperor Callus, is a big reason for this. With a two-shot reload mechanism and the option to roll random secondary perks with Cranial Spike, the Exotic Scout Rifle is arguably the finest in the game. It’s the only Exotic Quest that’s really worth your time.

2. Beyond Light Initiative

No time to explain the reward

IMG_5526-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Beyond Light is required.
  • S is the reward tier.
  • Pulse Rifle is a weapon type.
  • Kinetic is the weapon slot.
  • Primary ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Rewind Again is an unusual perk.

No Time to Explain is an Exotic that I often return to when I’m in a hurry. It’s arguably the simplest reward out of all of Destiny 2’s Exotic Quests – all you have to do is complete the Beyond Light campaign! Its Catalyst is likewise quite easy to get, although a little tedious. One of the greatest perks is the Rewind Again Perk, which fires an extra stream of auto-targeting bullets following precise hits or kills. It’s a fun and versatile gun to play with, capable of both DPS and long-range damage.

3. Lament for the Lost

The Lament is the reward.

IMG_5528-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Beyond Light is required.
  • S is the reward tier.
  • Sword is the weapon type.
  • Weapon Slot: Strength
  • Heavy ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Banshee’s Wail is an unusual perk.

While the journey to Lament is lengthy, it is satisfying. Each job essentially requires you to perform things you already do, but with the additional advantage of revealing fresh narrative pieces from the deep history. You encounter Clovis Bray’s gigantic Exo head and get an extremely strong Sword that rewards you for blocking. What more could you ask for?

4. A Flashback to the Past

The Chaperone is the reward.

IMG_5529-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Forsaken is a must.
  • S is the reward tier.
  • Shotgun is a weapon type.
  • Kinetic is the weapon slot.
  • Special ammo is a kind of ammunition.
  • Roadborn is an unusual perk.

If you like PvP, unlocking Chaperone is a must. Overall, the required kills in Crucible and Gambit are quite easy to get, implying that unlocking them requires little work, and you end up with a rare shotgun type that rewards precision. It’s strong, accurate, and offers incentives for maximizing those advantages. It’s more like a beefed-up Hand Cannon, which makes it ideal for mid-range play.

5. What exactly is this? What exactly is this?

Divinity as a reward

IMG_5531-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Shadowkeep is required.
  • S is the reward tier.
  • Trace Rifle is a weapon type.
  • Energy as a weapon slot
  • Special ammo is a kind of ammunition.
  • Judgement is an unusual perk.

The Divinity Trace Rifle has remained one of the greatest Exotic Quest prizes in Destiny 2, as well as one of the game’s most powerful weapons. Its Exotic Perk, which enables you to entrap opponents in an Arc bubble, makes it even more distinctive. When you lay down damage in this condition, your weapon gains a damage boost, making it seem like you’re shooting fish in a barrel due to the continuous stream of fire you may unleash.

The first stages to unlocking it are simple: raid Lost Sectors, kill Vex, gather resources, and so on. It only becomes difficult when you reach the point in the Garden of Salvation Raid where you must fulfill certain requirements. It’s a fantastic weapon, but getting your hands on it will be difficult.

6. The Journey + The Uncovered Path + The End of the Path

Xenophage is the reward.

IMG_5530-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Shadowkeep is required.
  • S is the reward tier.
  • Machine Gun is a weapon type.
  • Heavy Weapons Slot
  • Power ammo is a kind of ammunition.
  • Pyrotoxin Rounds are an unusual perk.

The hunt for the Xenophage Exotic Machine Gun, like Presage, is based on mystery and puzzle-solving. Unlike previous quest, the riddles here are embedded in the Shadowkeep expansion’s new locations. It entails fighting tough monsters, understanding ruins, and completing the Pit of Heresy Dungeon. It’s a long but rewarding quest that takes you through games you’re probably already familiar with. And the Xenophage, with its constant bursts of explosive rounds, is up to the task.

7. Gain and Loss

Riskrunner as a reward

IMG_5532-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Shadowkeep is required.
  • A is the highest reward level.
  • Submachine Gun is a kind of weapon.
  • Energy as a weapon slot
  • Primary ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Arc Conductor is an unusual perk.

Riskrunner is the most straightforward Exotic Quest in Destiny 2. To get it, just go through a Lost Sector in the EDZ, take part in a Public Event, and then finish a Nightfall Strike. The second objective requires you to defeat a Fallen Tank and a few captains before reaching Cayde’s stash, which contains a framed photo of his pet chicken. The Exotic SMG and the Catalyst are obtained as a result of this, giving you enhanced Arc damage and resistance as well as chain lightning. Overall, it’s a pretty fruitful thirty minutes of gaming.

‘As the Crow Flies’ is number eight on the list.

Hawkmoon is the reward.

Hawkmoon Bungie (photo)

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Beyond Light + Season Pass are required.
  • A is the highest reward level.
  • Hand Cannon is a kind of weapon.
  • Kinetic is the weapon slot.
  • Primary ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Paracausal Shot is an unusual perk.

Hawkmoon’s appearance in Season of the Hunt was unexpected. Fans have been waiting for a relaunch of this fan favorite from the original Destiny, and it didn’t disappoint. Sure, it’s mostly about finding colorful feathers, but it also tells the tale of Prince Uldren’s rebirth as Crow. This Hawkmoon Quest might be considered the last layer that needs to be peeled away to completely transform him into a Guardian. Plus, you receive a superb Exotic Hand Cannon with a devastating last shot as a reward for your efforts.

9. Death’s Symphony

Deathbringer is the reward.

IMG_5533-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Shadowkeep is required.
  • A is the highest reward level.
  • Rocket Launcher is a kind of weapon.
  • Weapon Slot: Strength
  • Heavy ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • The Dark Descent is an exotic perk.

Deathbringer is one of the coolest Rocket Launchers around, and one of the finest weapon prizes from all of Destiny 2’s Exotic Quests. Due to the unique Void orb it shoots, which detonates into smaller targeted projectiles, it’s ideal for end-game DPS. The more harm a shot causes the farther away it is fired. The primary goal of the Quest, like the others on this list, is to fulfill game components. You must complete Lost Sectors, defeat Nightmares, and gather certain goods from specified foes in order to progress. It takes some time to finish, but having such a unique weapon in our arsenal is well worth it.

10. Campaign + Raid into the Deep Stone Crypt + Sabotage Quests

Cloudstrike is the reward.

IMG_5535-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Beyond Light is required.
  • A is the highest reward level.
  • Sniper Rifle is a kind of weapon.
  • Energy as a weapon slot
  • Special ammo is a kind of ammunition.
  • Mortal Polarity is an exotic perk.

In Destiny 2, any lightning-based weapon is worth your attention. It may be much more beneficial in Cloudstrike, since it transforms a highly accurate weapon class into something effective for crowd control. A quick burst of lightning arcs out and fries surrounding opponents when you land a headshot. Furthermore, until the last stage, this weapon is not difficult to unlock.

You start out by completing Varik’s Sabotage tasks, completing an Exo Challenge, and killing opponents. Finally, you must grind harder difficulty Empire Hunts in the hopes that it may drop.

11. Shattered Throne Dungeon + Campaign

Wish-Ender is the reward.

IMG_5534-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Forsaken is a must.
  • B is the reward tier.
  • Bow is the weapon type.
  • Kinetic is the weapon slot.
  • Primary ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Queen’s Wrath is an unusual perk.

You must finish the Shattered Throne Dungeon twice to unlock this Exotic Bow. This Exotic, however, is earned via a series of riddles inside the Dungeon itself, rather than a simple completion. To summarize, you must locate orbs and bring them to a corresponding statue to initiate an event, after which you must defeat certain monsters. It’s not too tough to be annoying, and the puzzles aren’t really distinctive enough to warrant investigating without a guide. This weapon is excellent, but only if you want a high-quality bow that can see opponents behind walls is it worth the effort.

12. The Stakes

Malfeasance is rewarded.

IMG_5536-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Forsaken is a must.
  • B is the reward tier.
  • Hand Cannon is a kind of weapon.
  • Kinetic is the weapon slot.
  • Primary ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Explosive Shadow is an exotic perk.

Since Forsaken introduced Gambit, it’s only logical that at least one of Destiny 2’s Exotic Quests would demand you to play the mode. This quest was also initially considerably more difficult to complete, with the chances of producing an Ascendant Primeval Servitor being shockingly low. After then, it’s only a matter of beating a few tough opponents, finishing The Corrupted Strike, and playing more Gambit. The prize is reasonable, with the explosive shells being the highlight. I’d suggest avoiding it if it weren’t for how simple it is to get, but you’ll almost certainly wind up finishing it.

13. A Prototype of Stasis

Salvation’s Grip is the reward.

IMG_5537-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

  • Yes, there is a quest available.
  • Beyond Light is required.
  • D is the reward tier.
  • Grenade Launcher is a weapon type.
  • Weapon Slot: Strength
  • Heavy ammo is the most common kind of ammunition.
  • Cryocannon is an exotic perk.

I enjoy Salvation’s Grip, but it’s not a very good weapon when compared to the other Exotic Quest awards in Destiny 2. Stasis as an elemental ability outside of your Subclass is strange, because it forces you to use a clumsy Grenade Launcher with a lot of precision. Furthermore, the crystals do not behave like regular Stasis crystals, making it considerably more difficult to match abilities with bullets. I’d easily pass on this one if it wasn’t needed to unlock Stasis Aspects and the quest stages weren’t essentially part of other post-campaign tasks.

What is the Lost Lights Monument?

IMG_5538-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

Many earlier entries on our list of all Exotic Quests in Destiny 2 have been vaulted as part of Bungie’s attempts to reduce the bloat of an ever-expanding world. This is due to their being linked to outdated narrative material, Darkness-infested areas, or unique prizes for previous seasons or Raids. While the majority of the previous Exotic Quest prizes from Destiny 2 have vanished into the Destiny Content Vault, a few have remained.

Instead, these Exotics may still be obtained, albeit without completing the required Exotic quest or Raid. You may now buy them directly from the Tower’s Monument to Lost Lights Exotic Archive. This vendor statue, also known as the Exotics Kiosk, stands adjacent to your Vault and sells weapons organized by year’s expansions. You may now purchase:

  • The Red War has nine weaponry from the first year.
  • Forsaken is a set of eleven weapons from the second year.
  • Shadowkeep has ten weapons from the third year.
  • Beyond Light and Beyond Darkness are two weapons from the fourth year.

From the Monument to the Lost Lights: How to Get Exotic Weapons

IMG_5539-1024x576 Bungie courtesy of HGG

You’ll need to pay a variety of various resources, like with other Vendor purchases in Destiny 2. These Exotics, on the other hand, are very costly and require much more standard and specialized resources than regular weaponry. To get your hands on one of these Exotics, you’ll need the following items.

1 x Exotic Cipher

Exotic Ciphers are the rarest substance since you can only carry one per character at a time. They’re also only available by completing Xur’s weekly quest (which basically entails piling up points) or almost reaching the maximum tier on your Season Pass. To maximize your chances, claim your Cipher from Xur and complete his weekly task. You can easily make two purchases in a single week if you have adequate resources.

1-2 Ascendant Shards

Because Ascendant Shards are utilized to create Masterwork Armor, they are much more precious than Ciphers. They also don’t have a simple method for unlocking them. Yes, you may level up your Season Pass to Tier 94 and gain three in the process, but apart from that, all you have to do is complete high-level Nightfalls or Trials flawlessly. In most instances, even those aren’t necessarily a sure thing.

After that, you must select whether you wish to spend your hard-earned Shards on Exotic Weapons or Masterwork. It’s an irritating situation that may discourage you from purchasing anything at the Exotic Kiosk.

150-250 x Planetary Resources

Each planet has its own set of crafting materials known as planetary resources. Bounties, patrols, public events, missions, and simply finding them strewn throughout each planet are all ways to obtain these. These aren’t difficult to come by, and you’re sure to have enough on hand. Check out our helpful planetary resources farming guide for ideas and places if you need to grind for more.

Glimmer multiplied by 125,000

Glimmer is a common currency that may be earned simply by playing the game. The only caveat is that this is a significant amount of Glimmer for a single item. Before you pull the trigger, make sure you come near to maxing out your inventory to guarantee you have enough for further purchases and upgrades. You can even purchase Glimmer from Spider at The Tangled Shore in return for some of the random planetary resources you have if you need it.

Conquest’s Loot x 240

Spoils of Conquest are resources linked to Exotic Weapons that were previously locked behind Raid boss defeats. Of course, you must run and finish Raid encounters in any of the various Raids to get this money. Finding hidden boxes, completing numerous encounters, and completing Raid tasks are all ways to gain them in the Raid.

On your first run, you’ll get three points each encounter, and on future runs, you’ll get five. You’ll get an extra 20 Spoils of Conquest if you discover all of the accessible chests. Overall, earning this money is a tedious process, and it may take up to 10 runs to earn enough to make a purchase.

Previous Quest Reward: Exotic Kiosk

The Exotic Kiosk currently has the following Exotic Weapons available for purchase. These are rated in the same way as we ranked all of the active Exotics acquired via Quests. We didn’t go into great detail about the weapon or the original quest structure, but do let us know if that’s something you’d want to see in the future. Keep in mind that if they’re linked to an expansion, you’ll need to possess it to get the weapon.
