In Borderlands 3, there is a new weapon called the “Meltdown”. It looks like a giant drill, but when it fires it fires a wave of… something. And the game will tell you that you need to get the R-51 “Rhino” or the G-11 “Cerberus” to duplicate it. So how do you do that? Well, I’ll show you how.
My team and I just wrapped up the beta for Borderlands 3. It’s been a long road, and we’re happy to finally have the game out in the wild. We all know Gearbox’s penchant for making their games take a while to ship, but they still managed to get it out much earlier than the original Borderlands 2. That said, we are all eager to hear feedback from the community and will be closely watching the forums and Reddit. We want to know what you think about the game, and share it with Gearbox to help them make the game better.
Jabber Mogwai is one of the most unique legendary hunting bosses in Borderlands 3, mainly due to his tendency to duplicate himself under certain circumstances. We would dismiss it as a mistake, but that may not be the case.
If the name Mogwai sounds familiar, it’s because it’s an obvious reference to the 90s classic Gremlins, which also leads us to believe that the doubling is not a bug and thus may not be fixed in a future update, unlike other XP controls.
How to duplicate Jabber Mogwai in Borderlands 3?
Borderlands 3 is filled to the brim with questionable XP growth mechanisms, some of which we’re sure will be fixed sooner or later. The situation with Jabber Mogwai is not so clear. Jabber Mogwai, named after the Gremlin Mogwai, who turns into an almost infinite number of monsters when exposed to certain elements, behaves in a similar manner.
If you expose Jabber Mogwai to a source of Cryo-Uron – be it a barrel or a weapon – the creature will duplicate itself. Since you can continue with this activity seemingly indefinitely, it’s a good idea to earn loot and experience points, especially on the difficulty levels of the late game.
Jabber Mogwai Location
Jabber Mogwai can be found on the planet Eden 6, where Jacobs rules. Go to the voracious canopy area and past the shop, go to the level to the west. Since Mogwai is a unique legendary hunting creature, Hammerlock will warn you in time. The map above should tell you the exact location of the hunt, although it’s not a secret, and the game will show you where Jabber Mogwai is hiding.
If you want to try some of the riskier ways of running an XP farm, we’ve put together a guide on how to do it. There is no fix yet in the current patch notes for the game, but it should appear in the near future.
