Sandbox MMO Profane discusses how players will acquire cosmetics

According to the game’s website , Yakuza 0 has players spend hours just walking around and doing nothing, but the game’s multiplayer mode will add a “Sangokushi” mode, where players explore a sandbox Tokyo as rival warlords and engage in a variety of minigames.

In MMORPGs, most players purchase “cosmetics” that can affect their character’s appearance. These can range from simple vanity items, such as icons and emoticons, to more complex buffs and effects that enhance a character’s performance in the game.

If you’ve been following our news here at MMO Profane over the last few years, you’ve likely heard that our goal is to make a virtual world that has as much character as the real world, and as well as its own set of rules and culture. If you’re new to the site, you might not realize that already, but we’ll get to that in a moment. What you might not be aware of is our focus on cosmetics. We are not the first MMORPG to have cosmetic items, but they are one of our focal points.. Read more about new world game cosmetics and let us know what you think.

Dressing up your MMO avatar is the single most significant thing you can do in-game, as we’ve discussed numerous times. Thankfully, the Profane developers recognize the importance of this most coveted of MMO features, and have once again taken to Twitter to discuss how the next PvP title would handle cosmetics.

Insane wants players to accomplish their appearances in three ways: creating, collecting artifacts with unique aesthetic flair, and shopping in the in-game shop, which is highlighted as being free of pay-to-win stuff. The team is also ensuring that cosmetics do not obscure the talents that player characters bring, as full-loot open PvP implies that players will want to know what kind of fight they’re picking based on visual clues. To that point, the pre-alpha contains cosmetics that change their materials to whatever equipment a player is wearing, switching to fabric, leather, or metal as needed.

Greetings, community!

You may have seen the concept of the “mage” (as we call him) around here at times.

Of all, it’s simply a nickname because Profane doesn’t have any named classes to choose from. pic.twitter.com/IePVX5wDZN

So you want to know how players will acquire cosmetics in [game]? I’ll tell you, but you have to go out on a limb and take a leap of faith with me. I’m going to say that [game], among the other MMOs out there, will have the most authentic MMO (and even game) experience in which players will be able to buy in-game items through a market system. I’m not going to go into detail about how this will happen, since it’s a complicated topic and I’d rather not try to explain it in a few paragraphs. Instead, I’ll just tell you that the items will be “rare”, meaning. Read more about profane game and let us know what you think.
