Dead Age 2 Review – Resource Management and Zombie Strategy Game

One of the best games that I have ever played is the first version of Dead Age. No, I’m not talking about the first version of Dead Age. I’m referring to the sequel, Dead Age 2. While it has grown a lot from its predecessor, it’s still a fairly light game with a unique and interesting setting.. Read more about zombie apocalypse game and let us know what you think.

In the first Dead Age game receiving such great reviews, it’s no surprise that the franchise is returning for a second round of zombie action with Dead Age 2.

With so many games putting a lighthearted twist on the zombie apocalypse, such as the Dead Rising series, it’s refreshing to see one that digs a little deeper and tries to convey the seriousness of living in a zombie-infested world.

Dead Age 2 is what kind of game it is.

On the one hand, you’ve got the classic Final Fantasy style battle system, combined with This War of Mine base fortifications and resource management to top it all off and keep your survivors alive to see tomorrow.

I’ve seen games like this attempt to pull off several concepts and either greatly over-complicate things, making the game less fun or even too tough, but Dead Age 2 has pulled it off extremely well, with each element of the game being equally as important as the others.

Gameplay of Dead Age 2

To begin, I’ll add that you don’t need to have played the original Dead Age to play the sequel; the concept is pretty straightforward: the world has fallen apart, and we’re simply trying to live one day at a time.

Don’t get me wrong: simple does not imply easy; there are a variety of adversaries to contend with, ranging from infected to people that want to harm or rob you.

When you initially start Dead Age 2, you have a variety of choices to choose from, ranging from minor cosmetic modifications to more significant changes such as weapon skills or the ability to construct medkits.

Depending on how you use your skill points at the start of the game, you’ll approach battles differently. You may invest two points into melee fighting, for example, and excel in close-quarters battle, but you’ll miss out on ranged skills, so selecting carefully is crucial to your survival.

Each encounter presents a unique obstacle, such as a heavy-armored army zombie or a screaming zombie that forces your character to flee in terror and miss a turn.

Resource management in Dead Age 2

Surviving the day, scavenging, and fighting off both people and hordes is just half of the game; the other half is resource management, in which players must explore their surroundings in an effort to scavenge and maintain their stronghold stocked with resources.

Once you’ve collected enough resources, you may begin constructing your base, which will make long-term survival simpler.

Beds, for example, may be upgraded to enhance the amount of healing each character gets in the morning, while the front barriers can be strengthened to reduce the severity of assaults.

Players may utilize the communications room to let them explore their surroundings, enabling them to find additional resources, which may result in a battle.

There are also additional groups to be wary of in Dead Age 2. Your status with these factions will be natural at the start of the game, but each choice you make will change how they engage with you, whether hostile or friendly.

Summary

Dead Age 2 is a much better game than I had expected; at first glance, it seems to be extremely simple, which is far from the case.

Dead Age 2 is a complex, well-thought-out game that rewards and punishes you depending on your choices. Its round-based fighting system made me nostalgic while also impressing me with its own unique take on the genre.

While it is unlikely to be inducted into the gaming hall of fame, it is a really excellent game that has obviously been given a lot of attention in order to stand out in the overcrowded zombie genre.
