Chivalry: Medieval Warfare is a PC game that was released back in December 2014, developed by the British game studio, Blue Byte. The game is set during the Middle Ages and the player takes control of a group of three knights, each with their own unique characteristics. The knights also have a variety of weapons at their disposal to aid them in their quest to find a legendary sword known as the Holy Grail.
In Chivalry 2 , the factions are at the center of the conflict, and once you start a match, sooner or later you’ll find players claiming the superiority of Agatha or Mason. If you like any of them in particular, you’ll want to know how to switch factions in Chivary 2 and how they differ from each other.
Every time you play Chivalry 2, you are theoretically helping to further the cause of one of the factions. In a team mission, one plays the defender and the other the attacker. When you play deathmatch as a team, you really only need to kill people of a different color. At the start of each game you are automatically assigned to a team, and this is where the ability to switch factions comes in handy.
Chivalry 2 Factions and differences
To change factions in Chivalry 2, simply press the N key during a match and select the team you want to play. Since this is a multiplayer game, you can only switch places if there is enough space and the other team does not have an overwhelming numerical advantage.
But even if you switch factions, Chivalry 2’s automatic balancing can put you on a different team if the situation calls for it. As far as we know, the first player to die when an imbalance is detected gets a turn. It won’t earn you any imaginary loyalty points, but there’s nothing wrong with doing it unless you’re really interested in the game’s story.
Mechanically, there is clearly no difference between Agatha’s soldiers and Mason’s. They are distinguished by their story – available in the game in the News and Information tab of the main menu – and by the color of their armor: blue for Agatha, red for Mason.
Interestingly, the factions in Chivalry 2 have exclusive customization options that you can unlock, such as armor or weapons.
However, you can also unlock Mason’s makeup if you only play on Agatha, or vice versa, so there’s no limitation here. Plus, some of these cosmetics are available for both factions, so you only need to unlock them once.
