Big & Small Businesses That Flourished Despite The Pandemic

If there’s one thing History will remember for decades or centuries to come, that’s the covid-19 pandemic! The coronavirus surely brought the whole world into a state of pandemonium, especially in the first year after it was discovered. For many, the kind of havoc it wreaked was seemingly insurmountable, with many businesses closing down and sending their workers home on reduced pay or work suspension.

But still (perhaps on the bright yet dull side), it presented some businesses with the opportunity to grow beyond what was unimaginable before March 2020, when the pandemic was declared after being identified in January that year.

Big and small, here are some kinds of businesses that seemed to have circumstantially grown some wings amidst the pandemic.

Restaurants That Pivoted to Online Ordering and Curbside Delivery

Online ordering has become increasingly popular in recent years, with many diners using their smartphones or tablets for their orders instead of standing in line at a restaurant counter or cash register.

And this trend has only increased since the pandemic began. According to a recent post by the NY Times, online takeout ordering is seemingly here to stay, with services like Uber eats and Door Dash making it a permanent component of their businesses.

Flower Delivery Businesses

The pandemic brought a sheer volume of panic to the entire planet. Besides this, many people feared for their lives in ICU and hospital beds, especially those who had chronic ailments.

Even for the healthy individuals who had to stay indoors to avoid breaching the movement restrictions and lockdown orders, isolation and separation from their loved ones were a source of massive stress and possible depression.

For most people, sending a gift to someone you love through an online service was obviously the best option to show care and affection despite being miles apart. Thankfully, the likes of Bouqs flower delivery were there to make this happen, which explains why online flower delivery companies managed to stay afloat during the pandemic.

Personal Hygiene Products Companies

Since the pandemic began, bathroom space in most hospitals and nursing homes has become limited. Thus, hospitals prioritized the use of disposable hospital supplies over products such as washcloths, towels, and toothbrushes.

This drastic move caused the supply of toiletries such as soap to decrease immensely. But this didn’t stop companies such as Lush Cosmetics (who returned to profit after suffering a loss because of the pandemic) from expanding their brand from supplying bathroom essentials to offering mass-produced household and bathroom products for consumers.

Online Groceries

Due to the pandemic, people suddenly became wary about using retail store goods for everyday use. Many grocery shops had to close their doors, consequently incurring losses. But the latter can’t be said for online retailers, especially those that offer grocery delivery. They managed to expand and safely get essentials delivered to their customer base.

Digital Marketing Companies

To stay afloat and remain operational, the pandemic forced many businesses to shift to virtual ways of doing things. Many companies had to allow some of their employees to work remotely where possible, increasing the need for digital management software. Consequently, this meant more business for small and large digital marketing companies around the globe as their demand skyrocketed.

Online Learning Ventures

In addition to all the aforementioned businesses, some major platforms also enabled a seamless and efficient method of learning with online courses and educational tutorials. The crisis also made the use of digital mediums a better option when it comes to learning compared to the physical classroom.

To sum it all up, some businesses were indeed able to grow and thrive despite the unbelievable chaos inflicted by the pandemic. Most of them did so by conveniently providing the types of products and services that people needed the most at the time.
